Great replacement zipper for a Motorcycle Jacket!
2-way separating or open bottom zipper.
Nickel Teeth on Black Tape.
#8 or 8mm across the metal teeth.
A standard METAL ZIPPER is a #5 or 5mm across the closed teeth.
This is just a bit stronger & easier to use with your gloves on.
Frankly? I'm going away from #5's & towards #8's simply because my hands are old, pull is larger & because 8's are a bit larger I'm hoping they will last longer than #5's. Stay tuned.....
Think about the gauge this way:
#3 - light weight fashion zipper for dresses & sweaters.
#4.5 - my favorite for sweaters using worsted or Icelandic wool.
#5 - hoodie, light weight or dressy leather jacket.
#8 - motorcycle jacket or medium weight leather.
#10 - Carhardt's jacket or heavy leather.
#15 - Make a statement. #15 isn't much stronger than a #10 but the teeth are 3/8" across when closed.
All SEPARATING zippers are easily shortened from the TOP! Just order 2 top stops. Top stops keep the pull from popping off the zipper after you shorten it.
