Even though it looks like a METAL zipper, this is a PLASTIC toothed zipper.
Jacket Zippers can ALWAYS be shortened from the TOP.
When replacing a jacket zipper, start pinning from the bottom then AFTER sewing in up to about 2" from the top, adjust the top. Sewing in 1st is the key.......
Add Top Stops to your order if you need to shorten.
