I ordered these for a designer for a wedding gown he had designed. No, they didn't go up the back, but around the hem so that the bottom of the gown could be shortened for the reception. Great idea!
This is a light weight zipper, standard dress weight just separating with the reverse pull. Almost as good as an invisible zipper but much stronger.
